Rocket Languages... Who are they?
Rocket Languages is one of the leaders in downloadable language-learning products, with over 300,000 learners worldwide currently subscribing to our courses. Rocket Spanish is created and presented by:
- Mauricio Evlampieff, a Spanish instructor from Chile with boundless enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge of and passion for his language and culture,
- Amy Waterman, a Spanish language specialist with experience living and working in Ecuador,
- along with lots and lots of help from the team at Rocket Languages.
How Much is the Course?
Rocket Spanish as a 25-CD Package is available shipped to you virtually anywhere in the world for just $299.95 plus $49.95 shipping and handling. Because Rocket Spanish is a comprehensive course in itself, and promotes active learning through listening and speaking, reading and writing exercises, and interactive gameplay, you're getting a lot more than you would get with a course that offered only one of these learning channels AND you are getting it for less than what many of our competitors are asking.
But there is another reason why we are considered to be best value for money in the language learning market: we offer the full Rocket Spanish course as an INSTANT DOWNLOAD (PC or Mac). That means zero waiting time and zero shipping and handling cost. You could be listening to native Spanish and speaking it yourself in minutes! And because it costs us less to produce, it costs you less to own...
Rocket Spanish as an Instant Download normally costs $149.95, which more than cuts the price of the shipped version in half. But we are currently running a promotion across all language courses.
That means Rocket Spanish is now on special for just $99.95. This special offer is valid only until Friday, January 9th 2009 and, depending on sales, may not run again.

With Rocket Spanish...
Your Spanish-speaking Ability will Soar!
From: Mauricio Evlampieff
I know what it's like getting discouraged by the experience of trying to learn a second language in school. It happened to me (when I had to learn English as a second language) and it's happened to most of us when we took a foreign language in school. Rocket Languages recognized years ago that there's a better and easier way to learn a second language, and that's why I am proud to be introducing you to Rocket Spanish!!
If you've ever heard that you lose the ability to learn a second language easily after your school-age years, forget it. This is a common misconception. In fact, research has proven that the most difficult learning task for children and adults alike may be the attempt to acquire second language proficiency in school environments.
Even more distressing is research that shows that less than 5 percent of students studying a foreign language are able to endure the stressful nature of formal school training to continue studying the language for more than two years (Asher, James. 1982. Principles and Practice in Second Language Acquisition. New York: Pergamon Press, 9-32).
What better motivation for us to design and create a language learning environment that allows regular people, like you, to speak Spanish confidently and naturally in less than 2 months!
If you want to...
- feel more comfortable and confident around Spanish speaking people
- read books, magazines, and web sites written in Spanish
- watch and understand Spanish movies
- write to and email Spanish speaking people
- or you simply want to become exceptional at Spanish for any other reason...
Rocket Spanish will help you achieve your goals. I am certain that it will be a great investment in yourself and your future, and will be a creative and rewarding experience.
Yours sincerely,

Here's What You Will Receive in Your Rocket Spanish Package...
Component 1:
Learn to Speak Confidently, Naturally, and Fluently with your
31-lesson Interactive Audio Course
The Rocket Spanish Interactive Audio Course is the hugely popular conversational learning component of your Spanish package.
The 31 tracks in the Rocket Spanish Interactive Audio Course average 25 minutes in length - that's over 14 hours of audio lessons that you can listen to time and time again! They cover everything that you need to know to become part of a living, breathing Spanish community, from introducing yourself to getting around on public transportation, and a whole lot more in between. Spanish people just love it when tourists and travelers speak Spanish to them!
These lessons place an immediate emphasis on SPOKEN Spanish. You get to hear conversations that are spoken in real everyday situations in modern Spanish society. Even better, they are designed so that you can get in on the action!! You'll learn to pronounce words and phrases by repeating them in context, and then work your way right up to speaking entire sentences on cue.
Participating in realistic Spanish conversations is clearly the best way to learn Spanish, and Rocket Spanish has succeeded in bringing you the next best thing to being in a room with two Spanish speakers...
We're offering you a way to learn Spanish that is not only comfortable, but also convenient... that's right, with all of our audio materials available in MP3 format, Rocket Languages has truly opened up the door on portable learning!!
Not only do you get the 31 Audio Lessons, you get full transcripts of the conversations with English translation so that you can see this stuff written down!
Check Out a Sample Audio Lesson!
Listen to lesson 1.4, when Mauricio asks about taking a photo of Amy. If it seems too difficult, DON'T WORRY... the first few lessons are designed to help you take the very first steps toward understanding and speaking BASIC Spanish, and you'll be more than ready for this one by the time you arrive here.
Remember you'll get the MP3 version of the track to download and play on your MP3 Player and the transcript as below...
| Track 1.4 Rocket Spanish Interactive Audio Course |
To help you understand written Spanish we give you the written conversation in Spanish and its English translation with every track of the Interactive Audio Course! Remember that the conversation below is only the basic conversation we add in loads of extra words and phrases during the course of each track!
| Mauricio: | Disculpe, señorita. ¿Puedo sacar su foto? |
| Amy: | No, lo siento. |
| Mauricio: | Por favor. |
| Amy: | Bueno, no sé. |
| Mauricio: | Por favor. |
| Amy: | Ya, está bien. |
| Mauricio: | Gracias, señorita. Es muy amable. |
| Amy: | De nada. |
English Translation
| Mauricio: | Excuse me, miss. Can I take your photo? |
| Amy: | No, I'm sorry. |
| Mauricio: | Please. |
| Amy: | Well, I don't know. |
| Mauricio: | Please. |
| Amy: | OK, fine. |
| Mauricio: | Thank you, miss. You're very kind. |
| Amy: | You're welcome. |
In addition to the conversations themselves, you get extra vocabulary and cultural tips, plus the super helpful Rocket Reviews that conclude each new lesson!
What's the Audio Course About??
The Interactive Audio Course is organized into a narrative that moves from very basic interactions (greetings and survival phrases) to more advanced exchanges (booking a room, talking about sports, dinner conversation).
The lessons also get more challenging in terms of grammar and vocabulary. For example, we'll teach you how to use the basic "to be" verbs, ser and estar, to build simple sentences and enter the ever-changing world of Spanish articles and adjectives, then move on to express continuing action, more complex verb phrases, and much more..
In this introductory lesson, Amy and Mauricio take first things first. You learn how to greet someone and say hello at all different times of the day (and in both the formal and informal mode of address).
In this next lesson you find out how to ask how someone else is doing and reply in turn. You'll learn how to ask someone what their name is, where they are from, and some essential pleasantries by way of saying it was a pleasure to meet someone! In this lesson you also get some vital tips on Spanish pronunciation...
In this lesson, Mauricio and I will lead you through how to ask for what you want, need, or would like in Spanish. These words and phrases are incredibly important when you're traveling abroad, and you'll use them to order at a restaurant, to ask for help, and to express what you want to do.
We begin this lesson by practicing a few conversations to reinforce the vocabulary that we covered in the previous three lessons. Then you'll learn more about polite expressions, including how and when to use phrases such as "I'm sorry," "Excuse me," and "You're welcome."
In this lesson, you find out how to talk about what you do for a living, and ask other people what occupies them too! This is a fantastic ice-breaking topic for any new Spanish conversation.
This lesson will go the distance when it comes to talking about your family, including how to express different ages for people. Also, you'll get to find out how to swap phone numbers with people when the social situation calls for it!
Simply put: what you need to know about how to tell the time and date, and how to communicate them in conversations. If you're like Mauricio and always in danger of missing that flight, this lesson is one ride you'll be glad that you caught.
In this lesson, you're going to learn how to express what you'd like or prefer to do. You'll get to participate in a conversation where you want to do a tour with your family. You'll also learn more vocabulary associated with the family.
You'll learn and practice in conversation where you or someone else is going. The verb "to go" is one of the most useful in Spanish. You can use it to express everything including what you're going to do to, where you're going to, and how you're going to get there. And, like Amy in this case, you'll learn how to tag along when your friend is planning something fun!
In this lesson, you'll learn how to ask basic questions like, Who? What? When? Where? and How? in Spanish. And you'll also get to practice them in a variety of conversations, including the special event for this lesson. What would that be, you ask? Well, let's just say it involves a very famous singer named Mauricio and a band called the "Chilean Wolves."
In this lesson, you'll learn how to ask for directions, and understand them when you get them! Being able to ask for directions is so important when you're traveling. So in this lesson you'll also learn how to ask people to speak more slowly and repeat what they've just said.
This is the first lesson of several that will allow you to describe things, from how you are feeling to what the weather is up to. Here, you'll learn how to describe people. Is someone short or tall? Blond or brunette? Physical descriptions are always useful, and the more details you can provide, the better for your Spanish audience.
In this lesson, you're going to learn how to expand a bit further on your answer to that most common question, ¿Cómo estás? (How are you?). You'll learn how to say that you're happy, you're tired, you're busy, and more!
In this lesson, you're going to learn how to plan for the weather. You'll get to master a conversation in which we plan a trip to the beach, but we're not sure about the weather forecast. After this lesson, "sunburn" is one thing you will NOT have to talk about in Spanish.
This is where you learn how to talk about what is yours and what is mine! You already know several of these words: the words for "your" and "my" - but you also need to know how the vocabulary changes in formal and informal situations.
Time for some retail therapy! In this lesson, you're going to learn the basics of shopping: how to ask for what you want, how to ask how much it is, and how to pay for your new purchase!
In this lesson, you'll learn how to bargain, explain that something's too expensive, and explain that you're buying something for a friend. In many Andean countries, bargaining is a way of life, especially in the traditional open-air markets, so consider yourself warned!
If you're heading to a Spanish-speaking country or place, you better know how to get a room. You already know how to say, "How much does it cost?" and "I want to pay by cash or credit." In this lesson, you'll learn how to ask if a hotel offers free breakfast, if the rooms include ensuite bathrooms, and - the most important question in the universe - how to make sure that your room has hot water!
Discover how to order all sorts of food and drink in a restaurant. This includes asking for recommendations, asking your friend what they prefer and more. Just like the last lesson, this lesson will teach you practical, real-world phrases that you'll use over and over again.
It seems easy enough: you want this one, not that one. Bu in Spanish it's not as easy as you may think when you're flustered, and the word esto can get easily confused with eso. By the end of this lesson (esta lección), you'll be able to point to exactly the item you want and say, "I want that one!"
It's Amy's little brother's birthday, and she's inviting Mauricio along! In this lesson, you're going to learn about how to plan for a party!
In this lesson you'll discover how to set up a time for any kind of date or appointment. You're going to build on what you already know about dates and telling the time. You'll also learn how to figure out exactly how to help someone when they are asking for help. This is essential stuff!
You'll learn to ask what you should bring to a party and some common party games and prizes. And you'll find out how to ask for more information - and understand what you are likely to hear in response.
One of the most important parts of any birthday party is giving gifts. In this lesson, you'll fin dout how to ask what a person wants and offer suggestions about what to give them.
In this lesson you'll get to learn a lot of useful things to say when you or someone else is running late, such as how far away you are, if the other person is on their way, how to say you'll be there in 10 minutes, and to please wait for you!
In the next set of lessons, you'll learn how to strike up a conversation with a stranger. You already know some of the basic questions you'll hear when you're starting a conversation: What's your name? Where are you from? How old are you? Are you single or married? These questions exchange personal information but don't really get a conversation going. One of the best ways to get a conversation going is to find some common ground, like whether you have mutual acquaintances, whether you've been to the same places, or whether you like to do the same things. In this section of the course, you're going to learn how to ask all of those things.
In this lesson, Amy returns to the bar for her usual, and joins Mauricio to talk about their favorite hobbies. You already know one of her hobbies: bucear. What about Mauricio? You'll find out in this conversation, as you start to feel comfortable having more in-depth conversations yourself.
The bad news is that Amy and Mauricio's vacation has come to a close, but the good news is that in this lesson you learn how to use reflexive verbs! By the end of it, you'll be able to say things like "I'm sick," or "I'm having a shower," or "I'm sick so I am having a shower."
In the next few lessons, you're going to learn some of the basic conversational skills you'll need when you get to know people a bit better. Maybe you're living with a host family, or maybe one of your new Spanish friends has invited you home to meet their family. In this lesson, you're going to learn what to do when you're introduced to someone's family. You absolutely must master introductions if you want to make an excellent first impression!
Family life everywhere is full of... shall we say, debates about who has to do what and whose fault it is that something isn't done. In this lesson you'll practice a conversation involving one such debate over who has to do the chores.
In this lesson, you'll learn what Mauricio's greatest dream is, the problems with traveling alone, and how to talk about what always and never happens. Sounds like a lot, we know, but Mauricio likes to dream big!
In addition to your 31 lessons, we've assembled all of the conversations in the Rocket Spanish Interactive Audio Course into one audio track, so you can sit back, relax, and immerse yourself in spoken Spanish. Talk about making things easy...

What You'll Get Out of the Rocket Spanish Package...
Rocket Spanish will enable you to understand and speak Spanish in a comfortable way and on your own terms...
Rocket Languages recognizes that the best way to learn how to speak a new language is to actually speak it. Or, to paraphrase the legendary Barry Farber (1998, 5), it's not about learning the language before you use it - it's about using the language so you can learn it. For this reason, interactive audio lessons form the cornerstone of our learning program and are the first step on a recommended learning path through the course materials.
From there, your next step will be reinforcing the live language by using our vocabulary and grammar material, and Rocket Spanish offers you more than a generous helping of material in this regard: four different Spanish language Guidebooks that give you more than 550 pages and over 400 exercises in all. These guides are designed with the modern student in mind, giving you grammatical explanations in plain English. After all, we are determined to take all the mystery out of the Spanish Language, but none of the magic.
A third step would be digging right in to the software-based learning games, MegaSpanish, although you can play away at any time when you need to take a load off! Sheer breadth and flexibility give these games several advantages over other popular commercial platforms. For example, the MegaVocab game allows you to add your own words and pictures to the live database, so you can test yourself on what interests you most!
And don't forget about the Spanish Learners' Forum, which will satisfy the social networking learner in you! The Forum is fully moderated by our Spanish language experts, and are organized around several topics. There is a "Vocabulary reservoir" and "Grammar Q&A" that serve as an extension of the material offered in the other lessons, along with a conversational section in which all posts must be written in Spanish only!
